My Take on 50 Cent vs. Rick Ross

Let me start off by saying that I miss rap beefs. I think the battle in its original form (without gunplay) makes both MCs better in their skill. Inevitably, someone take an L though and looses the battle in the public eye. Here’s my take on this beef:

50 Cent:
50 has had his run. He had a great rap career and was in the position to make himself and his ENTIRE crew wealthy. The checks that Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, and even Young Buck and The Game saw when they were making GUNIT music including international tours had to be amazing.
However, at this point, nobody wants to hear Gangster Rap! There is no way in hell I beleive that 50 Cent would risk his career and success by beating up anyone, brazing a pistol or even taking a piss by his car outside of a club. He is at a point where he either has to rap about his vacations, his businesses or the beautiful women he can command and that hasn’t been the trend of GUNIT music.

As a business man and as a competitor in a rap beef, he is untouchable by the “Boss”. With the grand success of G-Unit clothing, the money he made from Vitamin Water, his acting career revenue, his video game sales, the royalties he still receives from his hits and the ones that he appeared on, his upcoming condom, deodorant, etc.. he has endless money.. What we like to call Ninja Assassin Money.. he can pay for whatever he wants!! he can feasibly make a self promoted movie and advertising campaign devoted to ending Rick Ross’ career, the ill part about that it, he will not have to answer to anybody.. he will not have to ask his A&R or record company for the money.. he can pay for everything out of his own pocket and not answer to a single person!

I think “fif” is a funny dude and he rolls with the punches.. from the Cam’ron beef when he took on his given name Curtis and turned an insult into a multi platinum album to today’s beef when he has begun a series of short movies playing the character “Pimpin Curly“.

Music wise in this beef, 50 shouldn’t make any more tracks, stick to the movies and your unlimited business opportunities!!

Rick Ross:
Ricky Ricky Ricky.. You had to know that your past career as a C.O. was going to come out in the rap game..
I truly am a fan of Rick Ross, from his first album. Out of all of the Miami artists that covered the XXL Cover last year, Ross was my favorite and I think has the longevity to last.

Me and AkaTito argued over Ross’ last album as I thought it was a good listen. It was a change from his first album and it showed some of his range.. he wasn’t just a fat dude in Miami talking about selling dope. That’s when I saw the light for Ross.. Ross will win if he keeps making tracks with R&B artists. From his hit with Nelly, Trey Songs and most recently, John Legend I think he has found his calling.

As far as this beef, Ross really has stepped up his flow, he has chosen classic beats to rap over and has impressed me with his lyrical ability.

The Verdict:
50 – Let the boi release his album with a “W” in his corner.. you gotta let somebody else eat for a minute.
Ross – Don’t lose focus and don’t get caught up talking tough to 50 – NINJA ASSASSIN MONEY.. and you still have to answer to the new President of Def Jam South – Khaled.

**EXTRA**
LITTLE KNOWN FACT: Remember when KRS and MC Shan were battling over the Bridge?? There was a real gangster during those times who didn’t care about rap.. only rep. During the heat of the battle on wax, Just-Ice went to all of the local hoods around the Bridge with a pump shotty Omar style looking for anyone who had something crazy to say about KRS, BDP or his side of the bridge.

Those days are over.. so stop acting tough.. NOBODY believes you!
