It’s very ridiculous to me that I have a page full of suggested “Friends” on Facebook that are chosen using the 6 degree of separation theory. This is a snapshot of the page today – 25 people ranging from 60 – 80 friends in common.
The ridiculous part about this is that I have NEVER had a conversation with ANY of these people!! How in the world can we have 80 friends in common and I have never broke bread with you, laughed with you or even called to catch up?
The word “Friend” is being diluted every day. Each day you accept a “friendship” on Facebook from a person that you have never uttered a word to, you are taking the significance out of the word. Facebook needs to learn a lesson from Twitter and find words that do not reflect an actual relationship like “Followers” and “Following”.
